wtf? they couldn’t have picked better people than these two idiots adn retards to embarrass themselves on national tv and host this stupid awards show–what a joke… i had never heard of anne hathaway but after witnessing that debacle and load of BS….i wish I never had! she was HORRIBLE…so was james of course…two of the WORST choices possible…why tehse two idiots? so the new generation can’t even come up with half decent hosts for the oscars?? I mean come on….its a testament to the already stupid decline of society but even entertainment….why some annoying egotistical pitiful untalented like anne hathaway…and bland lame boring james….BORING idiots….dont punish the audiences like that anymore
Franco was basically a vegi… so flat so passive, if he is not that intrested why did he show up the first place??, and Anne just made me uncomfortable not sure how to put it but she made me feel just like when mothers show photos of their sons and daughters when they were 20 years younger, i think she tried though..

They both sucked bigtime. Anne with her aura of suckiness, and lack of talent really showed. She had too many costume changes and was too full of her sucky self. James Franco was even more talentless. This had to be the worst Oscar telecast that I ever watched.
After two minutes of them on stage it was clear this was going to be a big time fail.
I mostly blame the writers though.
Congrats to Colin Firth, btw. Because of him I stayed up all night (In Europe) and endured the show.
They were both at opposite ends of the spectrum. Anne acted like she was trying too hard to be funny (or at least liked) and Franco acted like he was at a Friday night church service and couldn’t wait to go home. Most people over the age of 35 don’t even know who James Franco is. What was up with Kirk Douglas rambling for 20 minutes? I’m a huge fan of his but I felt bad and embarrassed for him. I hope they do a better job with the hosts and format for next year.
If anyone ever needed proof of James Franco’s overrated and overexposed persona, this was it. Hopefully this will tame his insatiable hunger for three lifetimes’ worth of accomplishments and make him realize that he is not the überentertainer he believes himself to be.

James Franco’s monotone voice and one stoned look was ridiculous. We could have gotten more energy from a sack of flour. He was, without a doubt, horrible.
Anne Hathaway may have been a tad more sugary than normal people can digest (I even agree she was “annoying” in some parts), but at least she was trying. Keep in mind that, no, she doesn’t “think she’s funnier than she is”, she was speaking a script someone else wrote. She was making the best of sup-par writing, and trying to compensate for her co-host. I have to give her credit where it’s due; it wasn’t entirely her fault.
I agree, the 83rd annual Academy Awards did not bring my attention to it at all. The co-hosts, James Franco and Anne Hathaway, were not to my amusment, either. Anne Hathaway did not have any humor whatsoever, except for the fact she was laughing at her own “remarks”. I think someone needs to lay off the Monsters! James Franco was alright; he looked stoned or paralyzed, though. Probably by Anne Hathaway’s personality and such. Haha, funny wacko’s!
It was so awful to watch, both were so bad, they were so boring, not funny at all, oh please get somebody funny for next year.

Worst oscar hosts ever.
James was stiff and lifeless and exhibited very little energy or stage presence. Ann knew it and tried to make up for his slack with movement and humor. Whoever selected them to be hosts are equally to blame. What a lackluster Oscar night.

I completely agree, a standing ovation and the audience seemed at ease he knew how to play it , hathaway was so annoying she laughed at all her own jokes and franco had no personality whatsoever, and there was no chemistry, Sandra Bullock was funny too but honestly worst hosts ever.
James was flat as a pancake the whole night, a total deadbeat of the highest caliber! Ann at least had some sparkle and panache, but James was dull and acted drugged out on something. What a disappoinment; the other movie stars carried the show and the children choir at the end rawked ! Loved “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” great selection … and exceptional how all the award winners came out from behind them at the end to finish the song with the children. Saved the show .. but I hope James Franco never hosts the Oscars again, what a dismal total failure is he.
Anne Hathaway simply isn’t funny but she thinks she IS funny and James Franco clearly went into it knowing it was going to suck and he was obviously uncomfortable and none of the wardrobe changes lightened the mood. And what was with the b&tch from The Fighter failing to mention the other talented actresses who were also nominated? Primary highlights: Natalie Portman, who has so much class and Colin Firth, whose talent was finally recognized.
james was terrible. he definitely looked like he was stoned. whoever picked him, terrible choice for the hosting acadmy award. he sucked.

Just got done watching the excruciating co-hosting of James and Anne. Wow, where is Ricky Gervais when you need him?! You could even feel the comedic relief when Sandra Bullock got on stage!

I thought James actually looked stoned or drugged (maybe a valium or two, to deal with nerves, and to deal with the peppy Hathaway?)…especially during the moments where he slurred his words (note: there were several). He was almost too sedate at times, comedic timing was entirely off, the co-hosts had zero interactive chemistry, and Hathaway found her jokes more funny than the audience did, as noted by her repeated laughing at herself. It was just awkward to watch– kind of like watching your parents have sex.
They both sucked.. James the most though.. horrible choices.. if i wanted to see a train wreck.. i would have looked for some news shows with charlie sheen
Well, they are sucking tonight. Anne is making the best out of a bad situation, but James is really bad, I’m sorry.
Anne was horrid. Hands down. She reminded me of the girl in drama class who brown noses the teachers & has the fake, campy, we’reallinthistogetherbff attitude. James Franco was HILARIOUS. He was so passive agressive & wouln’d make eye contact with Anne the whole night. He was making sly jokes(if you caught them) at others expense & was high(you’d have to be to sit through this all ages, fun for the family, grossmeout fest. I know there’s an 8th of my medical still in my system from that night). He clearly didn’t care about the Awards & who should? it’s just a ego stroking competition. Truely good films don’t require recognition for they speak for themselves.

I agree. She was absolutely awful. She was constantly giggling and doing her own little call into the mic every time another actor was introduced. She laughed at her own jokes and was way too damn peppy.

Anne Hathaway was awful. She annoyed me more and more every minute of being on the stage. Franco wasn’t bad, but he looked terribly uncomfortable standing up there with her. Can’t blame him.
This was just a very awkward year at the Oscars.
I agree 100 % with you. That is probably why he wasn’t up there 1/2 of the show AND why she HAD to sing that horrible song alone.
