Trailer Scenes And Dialogue Missing From Movies: How Many Can You Identify?

July 16, 2010 · 2 comments

popcornAre you perplexed or ticked off about the number of movies released these days that are missing scenes and dialogue from their trailers? You are not alone. Here’s your chance to do something about it and shine a light on these cinematic omissions!

Jabcat wants you to identify, discuss and argue about funny, memorable, even insignficant trailer bits that mysteriously vanish in the final cut of the film. Use the comments section below to display your perceptive powers and express your displeasure or befuddlement with this growing trend. Call out filmmakers for creating false impressions. Argue about missing scenes. Include trailer links to prove your point. [Visit the Trailers category on this site or link to trailers elsewhere.]

We’re calling all movie geeks, trivia experts and common folk to stand up and be counted! Comment here on any film ever made that has a trailer and missing parts.

Here’s one to get you started (from Jabcat’s earlier post, What Happened To That Scene Or Dialogue In The Trailer? It’s Missing From The Movie!) Remember P. Diddy’s character in the trailer for “Get Him To The Greek”? He’s a record exec exhorting his crew for ideas to keep the label afloat. One clueless fool, slumping in his chair, oozing nonchalance beneath his hooded head, offers this gem to his boss: “Two words. Mexican Jonas Brothers.” Funny line, even classic. Only problem is it didn’t make the final cut of the film.

Now bring yours and start the conversation. As comments warrant, we’ll break out discussion on a movie-by-movie basis, creating individual posts for each film. For now, use the comments section of this post as a starting point.

‘Nuff said. Let the games begin!

I don’t know if this technically counts, but how about a song that is featured in a movie trailer but not in the actual movie or soundtrack? I was excited to hear the song, “Your Illusion” by my favorite band, Hanson (yes that’s right, Hanson) in the trailer for the movie, “The Last Song.” When I searched online, I found that the song was not part of the movie soundtrack, only the trailer. Is this normal?

We just watched “Just go with it”. And guess what – the scene from the trailer where that hot blondy walks out of the water and fat woman says to Aniston: “girl like her makes girls like me and you feel uncomfortable wearing a swim suit” – it’s missing! It was funny scene, I think. They cut it out.
There is also a scene where blondy, Aniston and Sandler all having a drink together, and Aniston says that she will bless their relationship. Blondy takes her cell phone and screams that she has to tweet all her friends about it. They cut that one too.
