US Senators from California (home of the major movie studios) aren’t the only elected officials who have sent letters to CFTC Chairman Gary Gensler urging caution and delay in approving the Cantor Exchange and Trend Exchange (TrendEx) for movie box office futures trading. Congressman Henry Waxman of California, a Democrat like Boxer and Feinstein, and two Republican Congressmen, Lamar Smith of Texas and Bob Goodlatte of Virginia, have also sent Gensler letters. Waxman is Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Smith is the Ranking Member of the House Committee on the Judiciary. Goodlatte is a senior member of the House Committee on Agriculture. Read their letters here:
