Read Letter From Senators Boxer & Feinstein Urging Delay In CFTC Approval Of Box Office Futures Trading

April 7, 2010 · 0 comments

The movie studios have enlisted the United States Senators from their home state to urge delay by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in approving the Cantor Exchange and Trend Exchange (TrendEx) for trading of movie box office futures. Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein have voiced concern and asked that the CFTC delay action until it confirms that box office futures are consistent with efforts to make the futures and derivative markets increasingly transparent, serve a clear commercial purpose and prohibit excessive speculation and gambling.
