The Jabcat Movie Awards for 2009 just keep on going . . .  like the Energizer bunny.  Several offbeat Jabby™ Awards to follow. Let’s begin with the Most Surprisingly Enjoyable Movie I Saw In 2009 (low expectations meet solid movie-going experience).

And the 2009 Jabby™ goes to:

Yes Man (Jim Carrey in a funny and sweet live-action comedy/romance, opposite the always watchable Zooey Deschanel. [Film released December '08, I saw '09]

Need a film actually released in 2009? OK, here’s the runner-up for Most Surprisingly Enjoyable Movie I Saw In 2009:

My Life In Ruins, with Nia Vardalos. I seem to recall this film was not well-reviewed. I may be one of the few critics on the planet who enjoyed this tale of an American gal working on a tour bus in Greece. See it. Judge for yourself.
